The Anonymity @ Internet..!

While on the Internet or the ubiquitous world wide web - presentation is very vital - for everyone out there is actually on a quest to make some real good sense. Take Yahoo, take microsoft or take Google (you anyways have to ;)) - all they do is make best sense of the noise that comes in from all corners and filter that out to yield the organic results.

Call this Excellent End User Experience or call this Smartness - at the end far end of the spectrum there are always some real good techies who are working day and nigth to achieve the otherwise considered tough milestones.

Now, being Monday today - I decided to honestly find some way to track my site visitors on the Web. As most of us know - the getting IP (read Internet Protocol) Address is the only way I can find about geographic location of my blog's visitors.

I learnt a simple way to get access to HTTP headers that the user will send to the server. This
will include the IP address along with other information the user's browser will send to the server. Thats indeed all I need to get someone's IP.

So all I do using this Javascript is get the HTTP Server Variables and get the information I want.

  • REMOTE_ADDR -- Gives me the IP address of the visitor
  • HTTP_USER_AGENT") -- Gives me the browser the you use to visit my blog
  • HTTP_REFERER - Gives me where you were before visiting this page

Try this out by clicking Button below...!

Thus possibilities are endless indeed. Now, when I sit back and wonder that if I can get this - imagine how much info the websites can extract from users !!
Wish I too learn how to do all that and lot more soon ;)
For now, I leave you all with yet another interesting site below that amazed me this evening...!

Hi,
There can be many sites to track the IP addess but what matters the most is the insight into that "why" and "how" of the way it works; and thats the best part i noticed in your post. Its so short and concise ,but I got the essence of the concept behind this (thought -provoking IP track topic) really well!! Indeed a good post!

Hey Dude!!!!!!!!!

Gud one.
Lets have a look on the other side as well, mobile internet being hot now a days. I am talking about the GPRS facility being provided by all the telecom providers. You need to subscribe for it in case of most of GSM providers where as the leading CDMA provider gives u a connection which is already activated to browse internet.
Either you browse the internet on your mobile phone or just use it as a modem 2 connect it to ur lappy and then the net it at ur finger tips.

Ever thought about tracking ur IP while browsing internet through your mobile phone. Its equally simple and possible, Rather much more easily. In this case tracking the identity of the person using the net is also possible. Because under normal circumstances every SIM card or a CDMA connection is authorised to a person.

Think about the next step, 3G mobile technology which allows you to make video calls. And by that time if we have a strong team to catch cyber crime, it will be too easy. For a culprit using a 3G phone, police can even see who he is and what is he doing.

Voice enabled devices is what is the style of the day.
Check out the latest handsets like N80 speaking the callers name and few more allowing you to listen to your sms.
Another service from Reliance which has been here for long is TMS (Talking Message Service), where you can record your message up to 1 minute in the language of your choice and send it to any MTNL/GSM/CDMA phone in India. Check this out(http://rworld.relianceinfo.com/RWorld/html/Tms/tms.html)

I appreciate your effort to allow us check our IP just by click of a button and to make the readers aware of this fact.

To make people aware of the possibilities of this electronic world is what we should aim for.
